Pure Brilliance Glaze Set Up

Pure Brilliance comes in gallon bottles and 3.5 gallon pails. As it is a gel it is easier to empty the gallon bottles if you first tip about a quarter into your glaze tub, seal the bottle and shake vigorously. Like tomato sauce once it’s shaken it becomes more fluid! A little water may be added to further increase fluidity.

For the initial mix use a power drill with mixer attachment. We can supply mixers of the correct size, ask for CH6501 glaze mixer £3.75 plus vat. You will find that the texture rapidly changes becoming more liquid. Once the glaze has been thoroughly mixed it will remain liquid and only requires stirring manually each day to be ready for use.

Check the viscosity with your viscosity cup, Pure Brilliance has a range from 19 to 24 seconds, we recommend that you keep adding water and mixing until the stream breaks at approximately 19 seconds and the cup should then empty at around 22/23 seconds. Dipping techniques differ from person to person so the timing may need to be changed to obtain best results.

Fire to cone 06; if you haven’t checked your kiln recently it is important to do so when changing glaze. Ask for our Guide to Accurate Firing.

We know you’ll like Pure Brilliance but do call us if you have any queries.
