Health, Safety and Technical Advice

Ceramics is a safe, hazard free activity as long as you have a sensible approach to housekeeping. Most products used in the Paint A Pot activity are non-toxic though others may have hazard labels. Sometimes labelling may cause concerns; please don’t be alarmed read the notes on labelling in this section, they will reassure you. You will probably have much more hazardous materials under your kitchen sink than you will find in ceramics. If you do have any concerns about Health and Safety, however small, please contact us.


At Cromartie we have many decades of cumulative experience in ceramics.


Amongst our staff we have people who have taught ceramics, worked in industry, run ceramic studios and a professional member of the Craft Potters Association. We have kiln designers, engineers and electricians. In addition we can call on the expertise of ceramic chemists at Duncan and Gare as well as the world leading ceramic authority based here in Stoke-on-Trent.
